Course Aim

To ensure the learner has the skills and knowledge to: To develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to provide effective first aid in emergency situation and respond appropriately to a range of casualties and injuries

Course Objectives

  • 1Understand the principles and purpose of first aid
  • 2perform a primary survey to assess a casualty and identify life threatening conditions
  • 3provide appropriate care for an unconscious casualty
  • 4safely place a casualty in the recovery position
  • 5administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) effectively
  • 6Recognize and manage a choking casualty
  • 7treat bleeding, burns, and scald injuries using appropriate first aid techniques
  • 8Manage a casualty with a suspected spinal injury
  • 9provide first aid for suspected fracture, bone injuries, and Dislocations
  • 10Recognise the signs and symptoms of a suspected heart attack or stroke and provide appropriate support
  • 11Demonstrate first aid skills effectively in a variety of simulated role play scenarios

Qualification

Please note that drivers will receive a 3-year FAIB qualification if the first aid assessment is completed. This assessment is optional. If you do not wish to undertake the assessment at the end of the CPC course, you will still obtain your 7 hours of Driver CPC training credit.
