Course Aim

To ensure the learner has the skills and knowledge to: Understand professional driving standards, vehicle offences and the implications of poor driving

Course Objectives

• 1Understand what the driving standard is and why it matters
• 2Know the difference between driving offences including due care and dangerous driving
• 3Understand updates in legislation including causing serious injury by driving without due care
• 4Recognise examples of poor driving and know how to maintain standards
• 5Understand driving plans and how to use them to drive safely
• 6Know speed limits across different road types and classes
• 7Understand the Highway Code including road signs
• 8Know the most common vehicle offences, how to avoid them and the penalties
• 9Understand the importance of daily walkaround checks and knowing your vehicle dimensions
• 10Understand the implications of poor driving including licence responsibilities and medical conditions
• 11Know the consequences of alcohol and drugs, penalty points, disqualification and serious driving offences
