SEN - First Aid Training

Aim: This course provides delegates with a general understanding of first aid and how to
manage incidents safely. Training will ensure that delegates are able to act
confidently in an emergency situation; identifying the cause, alerting the emergency
services and providing appropriate care until these services arrive. This course is
designed for delegates looking to become an ‘appointed person’ but should ideally be
taken by all staff in order to raise the general awareness of what to do in an
emergency.

Objectives:

At the course conclusion the candidates should have:

  • Understand first aid regulations.
  • Do a primary assessment on a casualty.
  • Administer CPR to a casualty.
  • Put casualties in the recovery position.
  • Deal with and respond to choking, wounds, bleeding and shock.
  • Deal with and respond to burns, eye and head injuries, fractures and dislocations.
  • Care for people suffering from asthma, allergic reactions, nose bleeds, diabetes, epilepsy, heart attacks and strokes.
  • Deal with and respond to hyperventilation, fainting, sprains and strains, poisoning and drowning.
  • Understand the importance of record keeping.
